Who We Are

The Fortress is a thirty bed, men’s, faith-based, restoration abstinence-based program, whose center of focus is Jesus Christ. It is not the “Program” that saves us from addiction, it is Jesus in us and Jesus in the “Program” that leads to Victory over addiction.

“The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Fortress is a faith-based organization dedicated to helping men rebuild their lives through the teachings of Jesus Christ. It provides a supportive environment for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who have struggled with addiction and other challenges. The sober community in Willmar, Minnesota has been experiencing growth, with many individuals finding solace and strength in their faith, leading to freedom from their past struggles.

At the heart of The Fortress is the emphasis on developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which is considered to be the cornerstone of the recovery process. This approach prioritizes spiritual growth and transformation over a rigid program, allowing individuals to find their unique path to healing and renewal.

What does a typical day look like?

Morning Devotions

& Groups

Our mornings start a little differently than most places. We practice things in the house as though we are living on our own. We believe that the first fruits of our day should be devoted to worship, devotion, and reflection. Devotions run from 7:15am-8:00am and following breakfast we have groups from 9:00am-11:00am

Work-Study

Time

Afternoons at The Fortress are dedicated for work, study, and rest. Men can take advantage of this time to catch up on personal studies, meeting with their assigned case manager, look for employment, volunteer and much more. From time to time The Fortress will take guys to the YMCA, or have other outings planned for this time.

Evening Groups

Life Skills

From experience, we understand that there can be life skills that were not acquired while we were in active addiction. Even groups can be anything from video series, life skills training, checking in with each other or worship. After evening group men are encouraged to attend a 12 Step Meeting if so inclined.
